- Trichomonas is an STI caused by a parasite. This parasite can damage the mucous membrane, making you more susceptible to other STIs’s.
- Trichomonas is more common in women than in men.
- Many people do not notice any symptoms, but women may experience itching, (smelly) discharge or a burning sensation when urinating.
- Trichomonas is well treatable with antibiotics.
- Testing for trichomonas can be done from 3 weeks after unsafe sex.
