To test for HPV you use a cotton swab to collect a sample from the vaginal wall. Send your sample to the lab for testing free of charge. The lab is Dr. Stein's ISO-certified laboratory in Maastricht.
It's recommended that you get screened for HPV if you're over 30 years old and want to get a better understanding of your possible cervical cancer risk. The government offers you a test once every 5 years; always take this test when it's offered to you. With a Soapoli-online test you can test in between.
This test can specifically detect the two riskiest HPV types: types 16 and 18, as well as 12 other HPV types (31, 33, 35, 39, 45, 51, 52, 56, 58, 59). Although these types can also cause cervical cancer, the risk is lower than for types 16 and 18.
Your test results will be negative or positive. A negative result means no high-risk HPV was found. However, this does not rule out the possibility that you may have a low-risk HPV type because this test does not check for all types of HPV.
If the screening test shows HPV (human papillomavirus), you can find this in the results portal. If the result is positive, we recommend you make an appointment with your doctor for a smear test, as abnormal cells can increase the risk of cervical cancer.
