Hepatitis C symptoms
- The early stage of hepatitis C (acute hepatitis), rarely causes symptoms and is easily treatable.
- If hepatitis C stays in your body for longer than 6 months, it's called chronic hepatitis C. This can progressively damage your liver.
- If you do develop symptoms, they may include fatigue, loss of appetite or jaundice.
- Most people get no symptoms of hepatitis C at all. If in doubt, always do an STI test to be sure.
Hepatitis C symptoms
You often don't notice symptoms of acute hepatitis C. So don't wait to get tested until you notice symptoms. Get tested immediately if you think you may have been exposed to hepatitis C. If you do get symptoms, they may include:
- Fatigue
- Nausea (feeling sick) or general abdominal pain
- Muscle and/or joint pain
- Loss of appetite
- Jaundice (skin and whites of the eyes turn yellow)
- Dark urine
- Light color stool (white/gray)
