PrEP costs
What do you need to consider when arranging PrEP medication through the PrEP clinic? You cannot buy PrEP without a prescription. A PrEP prescription requires that STIs and HIV are ruled out and your kidney function is good. In prescribing PrEP, we follow the national PrEP guidelines established by Soaaids Netherlands, NHG and RIVM, among others.
At the PrEP clinic, you can manage everything from home. Contact is online (or possibly by phone). We go over health questions with you, and coordinate things as needed.

Cost of PrEP checks
The starter kit costs 199.50 euros. This includes:
- Intake with a PrEP care professional
- Testing for HIV, kidney function and hepatitis C (additionally, you can also get tested for other STIs)
- Writing out the PrEP prescription for 1 month
- Feedback of results to your primary care physician if you wish.
After 1 month Ask for a repeat prescription. You then test for HIV only. Then you get a prescription for 3 months. Of this, the total cost of HIV testing and prescription is 76.63 euros; for the PrEP medication you pay 50.37 (90 tablets of PrEP medication including shipping).
Next, you test every 3 months at least for HIV. The cost is 76.63 euros (HIV test incl prescription) + 50.37 euros (90 tablets of PrEP medication including shipping)
You can then also test for other STIs if needed.
Did you know that it is possible to submit your bill to your health insurance company? Request a referral letter from your doctor
(note: you can submit the cost of soate testing; it will come out of your deductible first)
Have you been at risk for hepatitis C? Then you can test it every 6 months. (An increased risk: of Hepatitis C is from intravenous drug use, chemsex or group sex)
