What is PrEP?
PrEP is a pill that prevents you from acquiring HIV. It is a safe, effective and scientifically-proven medication.

When does PrEP start to protect you from HIV?
For anal sex, a person is protected from HIV after taking daily PrEP for 5 to 7 days. To be protected immediately, start with two pills at the same time, in the same way as taking PrEP around sex (intermittent use). A person is protected as early as 2 hours after taking the two pills.For vaginal sex, daily PrEP needs to be started at least 7 days before sex because the active ingredients can take a bit longer to build up in the vaginal tissues. This also applies to trans men who have vaginal sex.
To stop PrEP safely, the advice is to continue taking PrEP for at least 2 days after anal sex. After vaginal sex, take PrEP for at least 7 days.

How does PrEP clinic work?
- Order your PrEP starter pack directly from the webshop: you'll need to fill in a medical questionnaire online. Our PrEP specialist will contact you by email or, if you wish, by phone to discuss any questions and give you the information you need.
- Take your tests at home: Following national guidelines, you'll need to do some tests and checks. Your order will be delivered in a discreet package. The tests are easy to take yourself, with clear instructions.
- Send your samples to our lab for free: The reliability of the tests is the same as testing through the GP or GGD.
- Receive your PrEP prescription: Once all the results are back, our GP will issue your prescription for 30 or 90 tablets.
